SURFACE LATENCY by  FELINA H.DB.
In collaboration with Current Obsession

Surface Latency is a visual exploration of bodily materials such as hair, skin, nails, and teeth, as evolving surfaces that mediate identity and transformation.

The project investigates how these substances express vitality, fragility, and resistance, operating as expressive surfaces, reflecting and representing both inner and outer states of glow.
Through AI-generated imagery, the work parallels digital and physical surfaces, exposing how beauty is often simulated rather than embodied.

Radiance is reframed as an engineered effect; moisture, gloss, and care practices become performances of wellness and control. Detached bodily materials shift from intimate to uncanny, reflecting on the thresholds between adornment and decay. Combining cinematic horror with commercial aesthetics, Surface Latency positions beauty as both spectacle and mask, revealing its latent monstrosity.

Ultimately, the project constructs a complex visual language of transformation where allure and decay coexist, resisting closure in favour of perpetual becoming.
