SKIN SERIES. Wearable Artefacts as Sacred Skin by JANINE GROSCHE
SKIN SERIES is a visceral exploration by Janine Grosche of PATH, probing immersive material
experiences through innovative latex applications and intricate casting techniques. By
harnessing latex’s natural properties, she creates bio-fabricated, wearable ecosystems that
cultivate a profound connection between the human body and the earth’s resources. These
latex skins function as bio-hides, simultaneously vulnerable and resilient, serving as a
second skin. Conceptually, Grosche examines textile structures as transient bodies,
ephemeral relics, and sacred skin, interweaving themes of mythology, archaeology, material
ecology, existence, and extinction. Through her practice, she expands the possibilities of
natural latex, introducing new aesthetics and redefining its potential through inventive
craftsmanship.
